Sunday 6/22
We went on a road trip this weekend, not anywhere particularly special, just up to Bakersfield for a work thang my fiance and I attended. On the way there and back Bryan kept pointing out all of the Carl’s Jr fast food restaurants that we were passing.
Finally, today, on our way back, I asked him why he kept doing that. He didn’t point out any rest stops with (maybe he was offering me the use of a bathroom) or McDonald’s / Burger Kings etc (maybe he thought I was hungry)… He said it was cause he knew I liked that place… Which I thought was so odd cause he didn’t point out other stuff on our road trip that I like – like when we were passing an old VW Bug, he didn’t point that out but he knows I love those…
We both burst into a fit of laughter when I said “Oh, like what, every time you point one out I’ll say something like oohhh lets stop or a shake?!” We didn’t laugh because what I said was funny, we laughed because of how I said it.
The thing is, half way through that sentence I realized I really did want a milkshake so the first part of the sentence “Oh, like what, every time you point one out I’ll say something like…” was said in a really sarcastic tone and the second half of the sentence “…oohhh lets stop or a shake!” was in a completely different tone of voice where it was clear that I did want to actually stop.
Maybe you had to be there but tears are streaming down my face remembering it!
