Monday 7/28

Recently I met my soon-to-be in-laws for the very first time in Colorado.  For 10 days.  Along with the traditional nerves and welcomes, there were several questionably fabulous moments.  I got enough material to write everyday for at least a month, so prepare yourself!

When I arrive my future mother-in-law (FMIL) cannot control her excitement and even though she knows we’ve been up since 5 am that morning (it’s now 7:30 pm), spent 7 hours traveling by plane and then another 5 hours in the car, her first priority is to give me a tour of the house.

The house is beautiful, my future step-father-in-law (FSFIL) designed it so its completely custom and really stunning.  The master bathroom features a to die for walk in shower, complete with floor to ceiling tile and some beautiful glass work, two shower heads and plenty of room for anything…  As my FMIL and I are literally standing next to one another in the shower she says “You and Bryan can shower together in here if you want.  There are no boundaries in this house.”

What’s the correct response to that??  I felt uncomfortable to say the least, and when I repeated the story to my fiancé, his response was a head throwing back laugh and “Yea, I know, I’ve been trying to set those non-existent boundaries for years!”
