In Awe
I tried to write yesterday, a reaction piece about our country’s decision to elect our first minority into the Presidency… But the words would not come.
Simply stated, I am in awe of how far this country has come. I honestly was not sure if I’d live to see this day and am overcome with emotion each time I think about it.
To all of those who voted yesterday, thank you. Even if you did decide to oppress our fellow GLBTQ (Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Questioning) Americans by passing Proposition 8 (or Prop H8TE as I call it) and banning gay marriage AKA taking a fundamental right away from 10% of the population… At least you had the right idea about who should be in charge of the country – maybe he’ll set things straight.

“We achieve nothing if we isolate the people who did not stand with us in this fight. We only further divide our state if we attempt to blame people of faith, African American voters, rural communities and others for this loss. We know people of all faiths, races and backgrounds stand with us in our fight to end discrimination, and will continue to do so. Now more than ever it is critical that we work together and respect our differences that make us a diverse and unique society. Only with that understanding will we achieve justice and equality for all.”
