Snaggle Tooth
I had a practice run at hosting a holiday on Thanksgiving. Practice run because I was only hosting friends and also because I’m also hosting Christmas, but that is for family. We had 5 people for Thanksgiving and we’ll have 7 people starting Monday. Yikes.
A few things went “wrong” on Thanksgiving… flaming tennis balls flying through the dried yard was one of them but I wouldn’t have called that questionably fabulous. I would, however, call the excuse my fiancé gave me as to why it appropriate questionably fabulous though.
I digress – the best part (or worst part, depending on how you look at it) was when Bryan broke his tooth. Ah, what alcohol does.
After dinner was over and we were all gathered around to play cards I wanted some champagne, Bryan opened the bottle and it started to overflow and as he bent down to sip the precious drink we all heard an unmistakable noise.
Bryan quickly stood up straight, looked at us with pure panic and held onto his tooth. I rushed over and as he pulled his hand away I saw the pieces of tooth in his fingertips. “How bad is it?” he looked to me for salvation. I wanted to tell him it wasn’t noticeable, I wanted to tell him that I could fix it real quick and that it was all ok. But I couldn’t.
There it was, his front right tooth, broken and chipped. After the shock wore off and the ice pack no longer seemed necessary everyone was anxious to see what it looked like. From the kitchen he smiled and bared his teeth and asked the three friends if they could see it from there – they were sitting on the couch in the living room. A friend’s girlfriend was polite and said “No, not at all!” The second friend said “Its really not that bad, I can barely see it and only because I’m looking.” But our third friend, who is known for his brutal honesty was not so tactful. I cringed as his mouth opened. “I’m sorry dude, I can definitely see it. Its bad, I’m not gunna lie.”
Bryan turned into a 6 year old, stomped his feet and looked right at me “I KNEW IT!”
Because of the holiday Bryan was not able to get the snaggle tooth repaired until the following Wednesday – so for a few days kissing was a bit interesting, but worth it. I love the guy, snaggle tooth and all J
