I’m “Published”

Ok, so maybe “published” is a bit overzealous but I’m freaking over the moon about this.  And yes, once you read the blog you’ll discover that I know these people and from that you can prolly figure out that they aren’t paying me – but I’m on my way people!  LOL

I think I have found my inner fabulous!!!

You can read it below but to see the pictures of the event I’m reviewing you’ll have to visit:  http://mcclure-pictures.blogspot.com/

Battle of the Big Hair

Or, rather, Battle of the Salons.  That’s right all you flamboyant fashionistas, calling all fabulous-ness, both outright and questionably fabulous people.  San Luis Obispo’s Native Lounge (www.nativelounge.com) has been the host to several hot topics ranging from Body Art to risqué photography exhibits but nothing takes the cake like the BOTS.  And I’m not just saying that cause I’m writing a blog for the photographers “Eric McClure and his wife Shannon” (www.mcclurepictures.com).

So for sure, check this out:

The basic set up is that four salons compete each Wednesday night.  One versus one, a winner is declared.  Intermission equals time to drink and then the other two.  Each night has a theme that the styles are supposedly required to be centered around.  Oh yea, and PS, the salons aren’t supposed to use wigs and apparently most of this stuff is created without the use of any fake hair.  Seriously wa-wa-wee-wah!

Please note that opinions expressed in this blog are not necessarily the opinions of McClure Pictures but rather the Questionably Fabulous rantings of AC Fabulous aka AC Siapno of www.QuestionablyFabulous.com. (Disclaimed done, now we can move onto the good stuff…)

Week One Theme: Circus Theme:  Competing Salons were Hep Kat, Reveal, District 96 and Faces  To see these pictures go to http://mcclure-pictures.blogspot.com/

Week Two Theme: Mother Nature / The Elements;  Competing Salons were:  SLO Beauty School, Tigerlilly, Salon 544, and TD Parker (although I’d like to say that topless = cheating, I’m just saying)  To see these pictures go to http://mcclure-pictures.blogspot.com/

Personally I think I’ve watched too much America’s Next Top Model cause my cohort Lindsay and I critiqued the molasses outta these girls.  To me, the hair was all spectacular, but I’m also used to my standard moose ridden curls, blow dried frizz-fest and flat ironed whispies, so I don’t know if my standards are all that high.  Quickly I learned that the creativity among hair stylists in SLO are limitless and I was impressed with each girl that came out from behind the curtain.  From the hand made costumes to the illuminated hair to the outlandish walks from the models.  I have to say I didn’t envy the judges at all.  But I did envy the photogs who got to snippity snap their way down the runway before and after each long legged beauty.

Granted, some of this artwork stunned me into silence several times, but what is even better is the way Eric and Shannon framed the skyscraping hair dos of the contenders.  Impressive turning art into something elegant and complex with the use of photography.  While I sat on the runway with my mouth agape, the ladies donning four inch heals and two feet of hair, balanced their way down the black carpet making eye contact and smirking the entire way.  Two enthusiastic fabulous thumbs up.

Needless to say I cannot wait to the next two shows.  I’ll be sure to hairspray my opinions your way afterwards.

To see all of the pictures from each week of The Battle of the Salons and make up your own mind about the event go to www.McClurePictures.com and click on client log in – passcode is BOTS.

And as you “local” readers know, to read more blogs by AC Siapno and to Find Your Inner Fabulous, check out www.QuestionablyFabulous.com and laugh your arse off.
