A Standing Ovation
For my husband’s birthday on Saturday two of our closest friends asked him to marry them. It was a huge honor and he was thrilled to play such a major role in their marriage.
Together we looked at our own wedding ceremony and tried to determine which elements would be part of our friends’ wedding. Knowing who they are I drafted the entire thing, adding humor and romance into the opening, the call and answer vows and the closing. My husband being the die hard romantic and deep thinker that he is drafted one too. They chose my version
As we all were asked to “please stand for the bride” on Saturday I gasped with nerves and turned to our close friend.
Me: Oh no J!
J: What’s wrong?
Me: We’re never going to sit down!
J: Why?
Me: Cause I didn’t write that into the opening, he’s not going to tell people to sit back down.
J: He’ll remember. Don’t worry AC!
Me: No, he won’t. He is so nervous he will just read straight off the paper I wrote and put into the book.
J: Have faith.
Fast forward to the end of the ceremony when the bride and groom prance down the isle… And yes, we’ve all been standing the whole time.
